The students of the Department can participate in the European student exchange program entitled ERASMUS +. ERASMUS + is the new program of the European Commission for education, training, youth and sports, which started on 1 January 2014.
It integrates previous EU programs for education, training and youth, including the Integrated Lifelong Learning Program (LLP) (Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius, Grundtvig), the Youth in Action Program and five international cooperation programs (Erasmus Mundus , Tempus, Alfa, Edulink and cooperation programs with industrialized countries).
Specifically, the ERASMUS + student exchange program enables students who have successfully completed their first year of study and meet specific requirements to pursue part of their study program in a relevant Department of a European Academic Institution of at least six (6) (1 semester) up to twelve (12) Months (two semesters) duration.
University of Western Macedonia has been actively participating in the ERASMUS + student exchange program since 2004 and for this purpose the existing Departments of University of Western Macedonia have a number of bilateral agreements with recognized academic institutions abroad.
After a relevant call for expressions of interest, the students submit a relevant application. It is evaluated by the Department’s Head of the program. In addition, because the ERASMUS + program is constantly evolving and expanding its activities, it now enables students to be employed in internships in organizations and companies abroad for up to twelve (12) months.
